The Kremlin has warned against playing "hide-and seek and catch-up" following the blocking of the messenger Telegram.

The United States, Britain and France said the strikes were in response to an alleged chemical weapons attack in Syria's Douma.

Peskov also dismissed French President Emmanuel Macron's claims that the weekend air strikes had driven a wedge between Ankara and Moscow.

The Kremlin today said it still hopes for dialogue with Washington despite US-led strikes on Moscow's ally Syria last week.

While acknowledging some differences "on a number of issues" between Turkey and Russia, Peskov said they did not prevent the two countries from cooperating in the implementation of large-scale economic and other projects.

According to data of Russia's Defense Ministry, the missile strike against Syria's military and civilian infrastructures was carried out by United States warplanes and naval ships in cooperation with the British and French air forces between 03:42 and 05:10 Moscow time on Saturday.

Predictably, the Western strikes against Syria at the weekend caused outrage in Moscow but Putin did not announce any retaliatory measures, with Russian Federation simply calling an emergency session of the United Nations Security Council.
