Consensus is Apple's integration of artificial intelligence, and voice assistant ingenuity is notably less powerful than rivals Google Home and Amazon's Echo.

HomePod sales have fallen well below expectations, according to one of the best Apple analysts in the game.

It's safe to say that the HomePod speakers haven't been a success as Apple would have hoped for.

2 million sounds like a lot of units, but not when you consider that earlier predictions had estimated that Apple could sell as many as 10 million units in the device's first year. Kuo also goes on to state that due to the lackluster sales that Apple is now considering introducing a low-priced model.

Three weeks succeeding its take off Home Pod's market share plummeted to about 4 percent on average with Amazon's Echo gadget presently fetching about 68 percent of smart speaker revenue.

However whether or not Apple will go through with their plans remains to be seen, but for now it doesn't seem like the HomePod is doing as well as Apple would have liked.

KGI Securities analyst, Ming-Chi Kuo, forecasts Apple's "affordable" HomePod will not provide long-term benefit to the Californian giant's bottom line, instead only offering a "short-term boost".
