Nepal: Minor blast outside Indian embassy in Biratnagar, no casualty

(G.N.S) Dt. 17 Kathmandu A small explosion was reported on Monday night from the Indian consulate office in Nepal's Biratnagar.

None of the employee was present inside the building at the time of explosion.

The consulate in Biratnagar was a temporary but functioning one set up by the Indian Embassy during floods past year in Nepal and northern Bihar, according to the Press Trust of India.

India had established the office in Biratnagar for security check of Nepalis entering India after a flood in Saptakoshi in the monsoon of 2008 created a havoc in eastern Nepal.

News18 quoting sources said, it is the possible role of ISI behind the attack and also said that they are planning attacks on other Indian embassies also. The blast has caused major damage to the wall, he said.

Morang SP Arun Kumar BC told The Kathmandu Post the blast in the open space behind the building caused minor damage to the wall.

The security near the site has been beefed up after the blast. The party had called a bandh in Biratnagar on Monday.

Biratnagar is the industrial capital of Nepal and 6 km north of the border of Bihar.
