Update (8:55 PM ET): Profar will be monitored for concussion symptoms, per Evan Grant of the Dalllas Morning News.

Texas Rangers shortstop Jurickson Profar was placed in the Major League Baseball concussion protocol Monday after a second-inning fall in which he landed on the right side of his head.

Profar collided with Rays center fielder Mallex Smith as Smith slid into second base.

Gerry Fraley of the Dallas Morning News suggests the Rangers will seek revenge by throwing at someone on the Rays during this series.

Texas has lost starters Delino DeShields, Rougned Odor, Elvis Andrus and Doug Fister to the DL with different injuries.

The Rangers should provide an update later tonight on Profar's status.
