Jose Mourinho's men handed the Premier League title to neighbours Manchester City after suffering a 1-0 defeat to Darren Moore's side on Sunday.

Despite losing in last weekend's Manchester Derby, City have wrapped up the League in joint-record time, matching United's 2000/2001 title win. United's credentials as big-game hunters is unquestionable having beaten Chelsea, Liverpool and City recently and that bodes well for the FA Cup semi-final date on Saturday at Wembley against Spurs.

A week after City surrendered a 2-0 lead to lose 2-3 to United and squander the chance to wrap up the title in ideal style against their arch-rivals, it was relegation-bound West Brom who served it up on a plate.

United simply had to avoid defeat to keep the title race mathematically alive, but a late header from Jay Rodriguez gave West Brom a hugely surprising three points and finally gave their fans something to cheer this season.

Newcastle virtually assured its Premier League status for another season by coming from behind to beat a depleted Arsenal side 2-1 thanks to Matt Ritchie's second-half victor on Sunday. "We were masters in complication".

He said: "We've got faith in one another, the players, the staff. Things have gone a bit by the wayside this year".

"We've won the league for you, Man City, Man City", West Brom's fans chanted after the final whistle.

West Brom finished with their backs to the wall but had chances of their own, and Jake Livermore had earlier tested David De Gea with arguably the best opportunity before the break.

"The last Premier League was not 20 years ago, it was three years ago".

When his first touch wasn't heavy, he found Ben Foster an impenetrable barrier as the West Brom goalkeeper produced impressive saves from Lukaku in each half.

Pogba was taken off two minutes before the hour mark.

'I won eight titles and I am not on the moon because I won against Manchester City. His players, in other words, have started choosing their games and, in the case of Paul Pogba in particular, it was not a surprise if Mourinho picked up the stench of complacency. "That doesn't make me feel super happy and in my opinion affected for sure some of the people that was too happy". It is even more important for the next games and we know we have to compete until the last week. "City were the best team, sooner or later they would get the points, so no dramas when the best team wins the league", Mourinho said.
