The Blues, who won the Premier League past year, beat Burnley 2-1 on Thursday night to move within five points of fourth-placed Tottenham. No use with unauthorized audio, video, data, fixture lists, club/league logos or "live" services.

'We forced them to play these long balls, but when they played them from their own half of the pitch, it's less risky.

With one eye on the semi-final, Chelsea's strength in depth afforded Conte the luxury of making six changes to his starting XI without it impairing his team's performance.

Chelsea, which meets Southampton in Sunday's FA Cup semifinal at Wembley eight days after beating the same opponent 3-2 in the league, took control early on at Burnley and it came as no surprise when Antonio Conte's men went in front after 20 minutes.

"In the past it was very difficult for me to try this option with the two strikers but they showed a great link and a great combination and at the same time they worked very hard for the team".

"I thought we did, we really took the game on".

Seventh-place Burnley missed the opportunity to leapfrog Arsenal in the standings but remains in a good position to qualify for the Europa League. I'm pleased to get back in and it builds momentum for an important weekend. If we think in the past we have missed great chances to get closer to them. "We have moved forward a long way but there is still a gap between the top clubs and ourselves, without a shadow of doubt", he said.

Conte felt the striker's emotions were directed inwards, with just one league goal since December, and was happy with Morata's wider contribution.

Barnes inadvertently deflected in Johann Gudmundsson's shot past Thibaut Courtois for his eighth Premier League goal of the season but Sean Dyche's side saw their five-game winning streak end thanks a rapid response.

VICTOR MOSES kept Chelsea in the hunt for Champions League football last night at Turf Moor, sparing Alvaro Morata's blushes in the process.

In another match, this morning, Southampton and Leicester City played nil-all draw.

"It's a quick turnaround to Sunday and a few of the boys looked a bit exhausted and leggy out there so we'll probably freshen it up and make changes".
