Pipeline Clarification to Help Future Generations: BC Premier

Hours earlier, long before there was any bombshell, Kenney tells your scribbler: "We are further away from getting a coastal pipeline built than we've ever been".

Financially the government has options that include assuming some of the investor's risk or finding a way to guarantee investor returns on schedule.

Clovechok also wrote in his report that highway security is one of the biggest concerns in the Columbia River-Revelstoke riding.

Mired in the impasse are two Fort St. John pipeline contractors selected to build almost one-third of the expansion through southern B.C., that are ready for the work but are starting to feeling the pressures from uncertainty and delay.

"To be pro-pipeline does not mean you are against a clean environment", wrote Clovechok.

"Without Alberta's energy, B.C.'s economy would come to a standstill", he said.

"Those of us who signed up for this I think should just go with the flow and let the system work its way through", he suggested. The entrance to the Canadian High Commission in Trafalgar Square. While the ship burned for a week, spilling 960,000 barrels, the Chinese government tried to claim there was no large oil spill for at least three days.

Indigenous people have not provided social licence for the project to proceed, he said. The energy sector is generally on board with Alberta's response, but anxious about how it could affect them.

On Wednesday, B.C. declared it's launching yet another court challenge to determine if it has jurisdiction over the project. So the pending Trans Mountain pipeline plan to triple oilsands exports, and increase oil tanker traffic under the Lions Gate Bridge up to seven-fold, is doomed.

In regards to the Kinder Morgan pipeline construction, two major items are being ignored.

Kinder Morgan wants an agreement in place by the end of May that gives the company assurances it can move ahead with heavy spending needed to get the development built. Saskatchewan has also said it will look to restrict oil shipments to BC.

At the conclusion of an emergency meeting Sunday with the premiers of Alberta and British Columbia, Trudeau reiterated his previous assertions that the pipeline is in the "national interest".

Notley said the legislation sends the message that Alberta is prepared to defend its resources.

"We've pointed out there are significant differences between governments, and those differences are outside of our ability to resolve", Kean said on the call.

Speaking to reporters on the morning of April 18, Horgan said he believes the province has jurisdiction on the matter and that the province will continue to try to exercise its jurisdiction over the project.

Premier Rachel Notley says Alberta will buy the $7.4-billion Trans Mountain pipeline expansion outright, if necessary, to get more oil to tidewater. The escalating inter-provincial tensions of the last week and a half, he said, "have confirmed those views".

Canada's courts have consistently sided with provincial concerns over the national interest, often leaving the trade and commerce powers of the federal government "torn in tatters", said Dodge. "The B.C. Premier (John Horgan) created this crisis, will he fix this mess before gas prices hit $2 a litre?"

"If she wants to invest in a pipeline that's her business", Horgan said.

A poll conducted in February found just 48 per cent in favour.

And maybe that partly explains Trudeau's pro-Trans Mountain pipeline stance.

Around 119,000 km of pipelines are used to transport oil and natural gas across Canada.

The BC Liberals previously approved the project.

After all, if you've watched the prime minister on the news lately, you'd swear to God that he truly supports the idea of ramming an oil pipeline through an army of green protesters.

The prime minister also had an audience with the Queen before huddling with his British, Australian and New Zealand counterparts at Britain's National Cyber Security Centre for an afternoon briefing on cyberattacks, notably those allegedly perpetrated by Russian Federation.
