Does Prince William Hint at the Royal Baby's Name?

Prince William announced that his newborn son was given a "strong name".

A grinning William - a contrast to almost falling asleep during yesterday's Anzac Day service - made the visit with Harry to officially open the centre in Marylebone. The Duke of Cambridge gave the press an update on his new baby boy when he stepped out for a royal engagement along with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.

That's how the Duke of Cambridge responded to Alexander Downer's light-hearted question about whether the Royal baby might share his first name.

The event took place just days after Will and wife Kate Middleton welcomed a son on April 23.

"Well it's amusing you should say that, it's a good name", the Prince replied.

As William met Sir Jerry Mateparae, New Zealand High Commissioner to the United Kingdom in Westminster Abbey, the Dean of Westminster joked about the eagerly anticipated name, saying: "Jerry would like it to be Jerry".

"Prince Alexander does have a nice ring to it".

It's unclear how long it will be before the latest addition to the Royal family will be named.

British oddsmakers now have Arthur as the favourite for the royal tot.

What would his grandmother Queen Elizabeth say!?

But this afternoon bookies William Hill suspended betting after a major gamble saw the odds of Alexander tumble from 14/1 in to even money in the space of an hour.

Royals traditionally keep the public guessing before revealing their choice of name. Prince Philip's grandfather was also named Prince Louis Alexander of Battenberg.
