Counting begins; postal votes taken up first

"All arrangements have been made for counting of votes in 222 seats from 8 a.m. onwards at 38 centres in 30 districts, including five in Bengaluru where polling was held in 26 of the 28 segments", Chief Electoral Officer Sanjiv Kumar told reporters here.

The machine is being replaced, and voting is yet to resume at the booth.

The election to the Jayanagara seat in Bangalore was countermanded following the death of the sitting MLA and BJP candidate, B.N. Vijaykumar, on May 4. The election in two constituencies, Jayanagar and Rajarajeshwari Nagar, both in Bengaluru has been postponed.
