Trevor Noah will host the event, which marks a step away from the World War 1 era, according to a blog post on the Battlefield website. "Tune in on May 23 for a first look into how your epic journey with Battlefield V will be".

Electronic Arts most popular shooter, Battlefield will come out with yet another more advanced sequel.

EA will show off more of the game at its EA Play event on June 9, just before E3 kicks off.

Battlefield V has now officially been confirmed by EA with a full reveal scheduled for May 23.

Earlier Battlefield 1 fans discovered an Easter egg in the game that was a message written in Morse code that revealed "Battlefield will never be the same" along with the May 23 date.

"With our next Battlefield game, the team at Dice is bringing the intensity of combat to life in new and unexpected ways", said EA CEO Andrew Wilson.

One curious bit mentions that "you can of course expect large-scale multiplayer in the next Battlefield - but Battlefield V takes it to the next level".

DICE also promises new modes and experiences, along with some major overhauls to the gameplay.

As you can see in the graphic above, the event will take place live online on YouTube, Twitch, and Microsoft's own streaming service, Mixer. I don't think that's terribly likely, but a battle royale mode?
