Director Nikhil Advani was quoted as saying, "Sanjeev Kumar Yadav wanted a physically and mentally strong actor and John fits the bill".

John Abraham will portray the character of ACP Sanjeev Kumar Yadav in Batla House.

Advani was initially planning to make a film on the controversial subject of Operation Blue Star but decided against it and focussed on the case of Batla House as he felt it was more relevant. The film will be shot across Delhi, Mumbai, Jaipur and Nepal.

Nikkhil Advani last directed John Abraham in SALAAM-E-ISHQ 11 years back and is now producing SATYAMEVA JAYATE starring John Abraham and Manoj Bajpayee which is releasing on 15th August 2018. Saif Ali Khan was earlier rumoured to be playing the role.

When asked about the project, Abraham said, "We have yet to meet, but I've been devouring all the material on him, and from what I've read, he seems like a humble man with an interesting back story". Were the five boys inside the building really terrorists or were they students? It was only after Ariz, one of the terrorists, was arrested that Yadav was reportedly vindicated and the fake encounter story was buried. He spearheaded the Operation Batla House, a decade ago.

You can question his acting skills, but you can't deny the fact that John Abraham often goes for quality over quantity when it comes to choosing the right movies. "As a production house, we make sure that we do a thorough research so the director has all the things ready." he had added. The film is expected to be based on the encounter that took place on 19 September 2008, against Indian Mujahideen (IM) terrorists in Batla House locality in Delhi's Jamia Nagar. Mohan Chand Sharma, encounter specialist who led the police action, lost his life during the operation.

Meanwhile, John's upcoming film Parmanu: The Story of Pokhran will hit the screens on May 25.
