Josh Bell doubled twice and drove in three runs, Sean Rodriguez had an RBI triple, and Colin Moran and Gregory Polanco each added run-scoring doubles for the Pirates.

The Pirates jumped all over Lopez (0-3) after he had held them to two runs in 7 1/3 innings the last time out.

Pittsburgh center fielder Starling Marte (right side discomfort) and catcher Francisco Cervelli (hit by a pitch in the right forearm) left Tuesday's game. Chicago is also 17-38 in their last 53 road games and 8-20 in Santiago's last 28 starts. He was 1-for-4.

Sox starter Reynaldo Lopez (0-3) gave up six runs and seven hits with two walks in two-plus innings.

Marte doubled and scored in the first inning but was removed from the game before his second at-bat in the third inning.

The Bucs and White Sox complete their two-game series today at 12:35pm.

"I thought we did our homework well last time", he said.

"It's tough in the short term to come out of a game, but, hopefully, by coming out when I did, we've kind of mitigated it. ..."

Taillon, who has never faced the White Sox, pitched three scoreless innings with five strikeouts against the Giants before he had to leave. Trevor Williams started for the Pirates, and did not allow a run over seven innings. The Cubs and Cardinals are a game back.
