Their fate is central to peace and peace can never be built on neglect.

POPE FRANCIS " I am very anxious and hurt by the escalation of tensions in the Holy Land and the Middle East and for the spiral of violence that is increasingly moving away from the path of peace, dialogue and negotiations.

Thousands of Palestinians were injured on Monday, and local authorities say that at least 58 were killed by Israeli forces along the Gaza border.

Israel has come under mounting global pressure after its forces opened fire on the Gaza border on Monday, killing 60 protesters who had massed alongside the fence to protest as the USA moved its embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem.

"I express my great sorrow for the dead and wounded and I am close through prayer and affection to all those who suffer", he added. "War incites war, violence incites violence".

These items make visible the invisible spiritual effects of the sacrament, he said, noting how the white garment reminds us of St. Paul's words: "For all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ".

"I invite all the parties involved and the worldwide community to renew the commitment so that dialogue, justice and peace prevail". He explained that is symbolized the fire of faith passing from the godparents and parents to the child.

"It's a decisive move, a move that reaches the heart, it's also a move that shows us the pathway for every bishop when it's time to take his leave and step down", Francis said, according to Vatican News, although a full transcript was not available.

Pope Francis has previously hinted at the possibility that he might resign, saying in 2015 that the Catholic Church should not have "leaders for life", and noting in 2014 that Pope Benedict XVI's 2013 resignation "cleared a path" for future papal resignations. "Do not be discouraged, because you have the power of the Holy Spirit so that it is possible".
