ARRESTED DEVELOPMENT Season 5 Is Being Split Into Two Parts

Instead, the upcoming season will be split in two parts according to Entertainment Weekly. The first eight episodes will be released on May 29 but the next eight will be released later, but it's not clear if that will be in 2018 or if it'll be pushed into 2019. The first part (six episodes) will be released one day after Arrested Development on May 30 with the back half coming out at a yet-to-be-announced date.

The glass-half-full angle on this is, Netflix must be feeling pretty damn confident about the quality of these new episodes if it's willing to split the season up like this.

In other surprising notable news from the trailer, it appears that Lindsey (Portia de Rossi) is running for office, Buster (Tony Hale) has finally ditched his hook for a more practical prosthetic hand, and Maeby (Alia Shawkat) has traded her bushy brown locks for a sleek silver hairdo.

Season 5 will consist of 16 episodes, so it's a little less than the 22-episode order they had while on FOX or the recently remixed fourth season that was re-released on May 4. The glass-half-empty angle is basically, "But I wanted all of Arrested Development season five immediately", which - while impatient and entitled and kind of silly - is a totally understandable way to feel; Netflix binge watching has conditioned us to expect all the things, all at once. "I know you're just a sweet girl who don't know how to act", he says, before imparting another nugget of questionable wisdom.
