The 20-year-old Scottish global embodies everything that the Hoops are striving for and by relinquishing that, after a report in The Scottish Sun suggested that Atletico Madrid were the latest to show an interest in the left-sided defender, would be a massive show of weakness.

Jose Mourinho is also ready to strengthen his full-back positions and Tierney is being considered as a long-term replacement for Ashley Young as Luke Shaw's future at Old Trafford is in serious doubt.

It's understood the Spanish giants will send their spies to Hampden Park on Saturday to watch Celtic face Motherwell as Tierney's side look to complete a domestic treble.
