"I'm his sister, I love him very much and I'm biased, but I really don't think it's time for goodbye".

Buffon, 40, captained Juventus to a seventh straight Serie A title and fourth consecutive Italian Cup triumph this season.

Instead, while the 40-year-old Buffon says the Serie A match against Hellas Verona on Saturday will be his last for Juventus, he has received offers to play elsewhere which have changed his mind about retiring.

"For now, I only know that Saturday I will play a game". I'm proud to say it's not like that. "Interesting proposals have now arrived". Gigi's eyes don't give me the feeling he wants to stop. I was always be grateful to all of you forever.

However, the 2006 World Cup victor, close to tears at times, did not say whether he was retiring from the sport altogether.

That was his 176th cap for Italy - a national record - since his debut against Russian Federation in October 1997. During his time with Parma he also won the Coppa Italia, UEFA Cup and Italian Supercoppa in 1999. Then, there was the penalty in the last minute of their Champions League quarterfinal against Real Madrid, which saw Juventus lose out.

"Not to mention that in the Champions League, at the Bernabeu, he put in a fantastic performance".

Of that incident, he said: "I think some kind of punishment for what happened in Madrid is correct, not for what happened on the field because the referee gave a red card for what even now I can not understand, but because I crossed the line". I always had a sporting and correct conduct with everybody.

"I'm going to play a match on Saturday and this is the only thing that's certain. Two days later, I would maybe have hugged him and apologised, but not changed what I said, although maybe I would have been calmer".

Buffon made his senior debut for Parma in 1995.
