Balla said: "In the three days that we (committee) have sat, we have not received a single petition, either in form of writing, telephone call or a text message, which means there has been no petition after the primary election in Ekiti state".

He also sarcastically thanked the APC for making winning easier for the People's Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Prof.

The governor who reacted to Fayemi's victory on his Twitter handle thanked the APC "for giving Ekiti people a candidate they love to vote against at all times".

"Furthermore, he must demonstrate that he is now a changed person by desisting from telling white lies as he did on National Television yesterday, lying so brazenly that he did not give APC delegates money to get their votes".

Addressing journalists yesterday in Iyin Ekiti after a meeting with his supporters from the 177 wards in the state on his next move, Bamidele said the coming election is not just about Fayemi or any other, but about the party and to rescue the people from poverty and redeeming the state economy.

Speaking on Governor of Ekiti, Ayodele Fayose's warning to him, Fayemi said "Ayo Fayose is a common enemy of my party and the common enemy of the state". "Fayemi should not celebrate this pyrrhic victory yet because it is nothing but a fame that will be quenched on July 14th".

There are notions that should the PDP be edged out of the July 14 elections, incumbent governor Fayose will be made to pay for his criticism of the President. "The manner of his so-called victory also leaves much to be desired as it has turned many of their party leaders and followers against him", he added.

"Until he does all these, his apology will only be seen as part of the political gimmicks that he is known for and Ekiti people will never take him seriously". In the July 14 election.

The President noted that the ruling party values internal democracy, describing the success of the primary election as another testament to the APC's democratic credentials. I would like them to uphold the values and philosophy of the APC by joining hands to support Dr Fayemi in the forthcoming elections.

Of surprise was the performance of Kayode Ojo, a business tycoon, who trailed the two front-liners to come third.

Right now, it is only Ekiti state in the south-west that is not in the APC fold.

He said all efforts were now geared towards winning the July 14 Ekiti governorship election, adding that the party's national campaign committee for the election will soon be set up.
