Frontier Airlines restarts service to San Antonio from Cleveland Hopkins International Airport

Sacramento airport marketing head Mark Haneke credited the strength of Sacramento's regional economy and the expansion of Vancouver as an worldwide hub for bringing the airline back to Sacramento. It will run seasonally, although it's not immediately clear what months that will include.

Starting May 18, Frontier will offer introductory fares to the new destinations. To get the low fare tickets must be purchased by May 18 with travel on Mondays beginning August 13 and through November 14. Eight of the nine destinations were previously unserved with direct flights from San Antonio. It will leave Omaha at 10 a.m. and arrive in San Antonio at 12:23 p.m. Southwest and Alaska Airlines also offer nonstop service to Cabo San Lucas.

Denver-based Frontier began service in on this day in 2013 with Denver as its only destination.

Air Canada on Thursday will launch daily nonstop flights to Vancouver, British Columbia.

Frontier Airlines is considered an ultra-low cost carrier, which combines cheap fares with extra fees for amenities like advanced seat assignments, luggage and beverages.

The low-priced airline now originates direct flights from Cleveland Hopkins to Austin, Tex.; Cancun, Mexico; Denver; Fort Myers, Fla.; Las Vegas, Miami, Minneapolis, Orlando, Fla.; Portland, Ore.; Phoenix, Raleigh/Durham, N.C; and Seattle.
