Honda launches second generation sedan Amaze

The prices for the petrol model starts at Rs 5.59 lakh and the prices for the diesel model start at Rs 6.69 lakh.

The 2018 Honda Amaze has been placed on an all new platform that comes with a 65mm longer wheelbase.

The all-new Honda Amaze comes with the same 1.2-litre petrol and 1.5-litre diesel engines that power the outgoing version of this auto.

The 2018 Amaze brings a new design as compared to the previous generation.

Speaking on the occasion, Ravish Trehan, Managing Director Hillview Honda said, "The All New Amaze has been developed keeping the needs and aspirations of Indian customers in mind".

While the petrol version would give 19.5 kmpl (for manual transmission) and 19 kmpl (for AMT), the diesel variant would give 27.4 kmpl (for MT) and 23.8 kmpl (for CVT), under test conditions, the company said. At the rear, it has C-shape combination tail lamps which adds another new style statement to its design. The petrol engine produces 89bhp at 6,000rpm and 110Nm of torque at 4,800rpm, while the diesel engine churns out 99bhp at 3,600rpm and 200Nm of torque at 1,500rpm. It has a chrome grille in the front with sweptback headlamps with integrated LED DRLs and a new front bumper with rectangular fog lamp pods.

The interior of the second-gen Amaze features a dual-tone theme similar to the outgoing model. The vehicle offers features like Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, voice recognition, auto climate control and cruise control among the others. Honda also offers paddle shifter for the petrol CVT model.

Under the comfort section, the sedans come with the Automatic Climate Control AC system, Heater, Adjustable Steering Wheel, Rear parking sensors with cameras, Push Start Stop Button, Keyless Entry, Infotainment system with CD/DVD Player, Speakers, Radio, USB and Bluetooth Support and GPS Navigation. The new Amaze is available in 5 colour options - Radiant Red, Orchid White Pearl, Modern Steel, Golden Metallic Brown and Lunar Silver. The biggest changes in design shows on the front of the auto that comes with a muscular bumper and new grille design as compared to previous generation Amaze. In terms of safety features, the 2018 Amaze will be equipped with dual front airbags, ABS with EBD and ISOFIX child seat anchors as standard across the range.

The new Amaze is an excellent compact sedan in the Indian market for the price it demands. The new Amaze will be competing with the likes of Maruti Suzuki's Dzire, Ford's Aspire and Hyundai Motor's Xcent.
