"We know your mobile phone is the most personal device you own", writes Richard Irving, VP of Product in the Hulu blog. This new update improves the experience for them, helping viewers scrub through videos, get directly to live channels, and more.

In addition, web users will finally get the new and improved Hulu experience that is already available on its mobile, smart TV, and set top box applications.

Hulu is also adding HDMI support to iOS and introducing a new portrait player that lets users control Chromecast playback and channel-surf in the same place. "It goes with you virtually everywhere you go, and we know it's how you watch TV when you're away from your big screen".

Hulu has also updated its live TV guide for customers watching on devices at home.

"Our viewers are watching 84% more hours of programming a month on their phones compared to previous year", Irving wrote in a blog post.

"First, to get you into live TV more quickly and with fewer clicks, we're introducing a new dedicated live TV destination which will take you directly to live playback on your most recently watched channel". The mobile app will present the dynamic live TV guide, too, for seeing what is on, what is scheduled for recording, and more. The additional control is coming via two new features: "Remove", which removes a show from the user's Watch History, and "Stop Suggesting", which removes the show from the user's recommendations. Recommendations will also be presented when in portrait mode if the user is viewing on-demand content.

And that all new features will be rolling out to Android and iOS starting next week.
