Multiple injured after school bus collides with dump truck in New Jersey

An unknown number of middle school students were on board the school bus at the time of the 10:20 a.m. crash on Route 80 near exit 25 in Mount Olive Township, according to the New Jersey State Police. The top of the bus came completely off of the undercarriage of the bus.

The front of the school bus was reportedly badly damaged in the crash and various parts of the vehicle were seen laying on the highway.

The school bus had markings for the Paramus School District. There was also damage to the back of the bus.

A red dump truck with a mangled front end was parked along the highway nearby, about 50 miles west of NY. Multiple ambulances were at the scene. Some eastbound lanes reopened about an hour later, although the westbound lanes remained closed. The school district's office said the superintendent is working on a statement. The accident involved a school bus, said Hackettstown Police Sgt. Darren Tynan.

"There's an incredible emergency response from throughout Morris County and by state police". Expect heavy traffic and delays on Route 46, Mount Olive police say. "It's a horrific scene", Mt.

Morristown Medical Center spokeswoman Elaine Andrecovich said they have received some people from the accident, but she did not have a number available and could not say how many were children.
