"We don't know what to do", Holt says.

"Please my fellow Americans don't allow me to continue suffering in Venezuela", Holt said in a written message, also posted on his Facebook page. Shortly afterward, the couple was arrested at her family's apartment in a Caracas public housing project after police said they found him stockpiling an assault weapon and grenades. I am a political prisoner and they won't let me free.

"Helicoide the prison where I am at has fallen the guards are here and people are trying to break in my room and kill me", said Holt, 26, in a video. I have NEVER done anything wrong in my life.

"They're outside", he says, "They're trying to break in".

Tensions between the US and Venezuela have risen as President Donald Trump's administration considers further sanctions on the country, this time on oil. They're saying they want to kill me.

Venezuelan news media reported that political prisoners there are demanding an end to what they called torture and mistreatment of detainees, saying some inmates are minors and others are being held even though they have not been prosecuted.

The Trump administration has suggested there are political motives for Holt's continued detention.

The U.S. Embassy stated in a message on social media that the Venezuelan authorities is straight accountable for Holt's security. Holt denies the charges. Several of Maduro's top opponents are barred from running.

Alfredo Romero, a lawyer with the Penal Forum rights group which provides legal representation for prisoners, met relatives of prisoners in front of the headquarters of intelligence agency Sebin, known as the Helicoide, where hundreds of people are held.

In one, Daniel Ceballos, a former opposition mayor, is seen trying to jimmy open the padlock on a cell using a dumbbell and iron rod.

Sen. Orrin Hatch's office in a statement Wednesday said Hatch had been speaking with Holt's family, President Donald Trump's administration and others in Venezuela.

A third video shows a United States citizen, John Holt, who was arrested in Caracas in 2016 and has yet to be tried.

"We are concerned about the riot at El Helicoide", Robinson said, referring to the helix-shaped building where Maduro's top opponents are being held. "The government of Venezuela is directly responsible for their safety and will be held responsible if anything happens to them. Joshua Holt on humanitarian grounds?"
