Now, the Tribble's out of the bag.

No one really knows yet what the idea Tarantino has for a new Star Trek movie, but he shared a few thoughts in the past while chatting on the Nerdist podcast, where he suggested a couple of episodes could be given the feature-length treatment.

Nick Meyer spoke last night at a Shakespeare and Star Trek event at the UCI School of Humanities, where he explained a comment made past year that he was "working on another Star Trek project" that would be a miniseries.

It sounds kind of fantastic, but some complications have arisen. I can't discuss or I'd have to kill you. I was writing it for CBS [All] Access. So, I don't think my project is going anywhere in a hurry, because everything is on hold while they sort out this merger business. Earlier this week, CBS's board announced it was suing its parent company National Amusements to try and block a merger with Viacom.

According to TrekCore, Meyer revealed that he has been working on a new Star Trek project for CBS All Access.

The "re-merger" of CBS and Viacom/Paramount under one roof would bring all of Star Trek's ownership back together again - as CBS manages the franchise's television rights and the Viacom/Paramount theatrical film side of things. I'm sure a televised film trilogy would be a little unconventional - but with someone like Meyer at the helm, it could have the potential to be something special.

Finally, we are getting some clarification on what's coming for the next installment in the Star Trek Kelvin Timeline - well, at least what won't be coming to the universe.
