Meanwhile, the Spokesman Ministry of Power Division said the National Power Control Center (NPCC) was restoring the system.

A spokesperson to the Ato mic Energy Commission has stated that the tripping of lines from the Tarbela power plant caused all four Chashma Nuclear Power Plants to trip as well.

Lahore, Multan, Bahawalpur, Rawalpindi, Jhang, Attock and other parts of Punjab were hit hard by the power breakdown in the sweltering summer.

Technical teams have reached the power plant with the secretary of the Power Division, to start work on the fault immediately. He said Ghazi Barotha, Tarbela, Mangla had been synchronized and connected to the nation grid system.

Power Division spokesman said while situation remains normal in Karachi, Balochistan and south Punjab, the power plants affected due to the fault would soon be restored.

According to details, the breakdown occurred owing to tripping of Muzaffargarh-Guddu main transmission line.

Awais Leghari said power supply to the Federal Capital had also been restored and with two-three hours, the whole system would be restored.

Leghari further said the demand and supply of electricity was being controlled as per schedule since December 4.

Reacting to the move, the All Pakistan Textile Mills Association vowed to protest, saying only Punjab's industries were being denied power for 10 hours a day. He said it will cause a huge loss to the sector.

The association said it would meet the finance minister today and then announce its next course of action.
