"As parents, Tonette and I know that every little bit helps, and this $100-per-child tax rebate can go toward school supplies, activity fees, or a co-pay at the doctor or dentist".

In addition to the child sales tax rebate, taxpayers will have another tax break through a sales tax holiday. "This rebate will come right in time for the back to school season", said Representative Joan Ballweg (R-Markesan). In order to be eligible for the tax rebate, the child must be under the age of 18 by the end of last year, a dependent for the 2017 tax year, a USA citizen and a resident of Wisconsin. The filing period will remain open until July 2 and most rebates will be paid within three weeks.

Only those who successfully apply online starting Tuesday with the state Department of Revenue will receive the money, which Gov. Scott Walker and the Republican-controlled Legislature approved earlier this year. "We urge everyone with children under the age of 18 as of December 31, 2017 to claim their credit on ChildTaxRebate.wi.gov from today through July 2". The holiday will run from August 1-5 and eliminate sales tax on school supplies, clothing under $75, and certain computers and supplies.
