More than 11 hours after a woman climbed a tree and prompted a standoff with emergency responders at Lanark Recreation Center in Canoga Park, she came down safely Tuesday morning and was being evaluated by paramedics.

The woman has been in the 30-foot high tree in the 21800 block of West Lanark Street for hours, L.A Fire's Amy Bastman said. The fire department said it received a call about the women at 7:27 p.m. Monday. It was unclear why she was in the tree.

About 6:30 a.m. today, the woman climbed down, assisted by firefighters using a ladder. Paramedics assessed the woman before transporting to a hospital for further evaluation.

She appeared to be under the influence of drugs, according to media reports.

Firefighters set up an air bag at the bottom of the tree, Los Angeles Police Department officers were notified.
