The launch, which is not a complete launch, with that expected to happen next Tuesday - Wednesday our time - will see YouTube Red disappear and be replaces with YouTube Music Premium available for $9.99USD per month which includes services such as ad-free music, listen in the background and downloadable content, or YouTube Premium for $11.99USD per month which includes all that plus the new YouTube Originals series like Cobra Kai and the upcoming Impulse series. One big one is whether ad-free YouTube for all videos - and not just music content - will be included in the new YouTube Music service, or whether that will be a part of the new Premium offering. However, note that those three features only apply to music content.

YouTube is set to launch "YouTube Premium" this month, the new service will also serve as a rebranding for Google's YouTube Red service.

YouTube Music search works even if fans don't know exactly what they're looking for ... we'll find it if they describe it (try "that hipster song with the whistling") or give us some lyrics (try "I make money moves").

A new report suggests that YouTube, with the new version of its music service it will also charge more for ad-free shows. Perhaps preempted by the numerous leaks, YouTube chose to just go ahead and announce YouTube Music and YouTube Premium before Tuesday's launch.

"YouTube in general is where most music is consumed. And if you use Google Play Music, nothing will change - you'll still be able to access all of your purchased music, uploads and playlists in Google Play Music just like always", wrote Roman. At the airport? We'll recommend something relaxing before the flight. YouTube Premium will continue to provide an ad-free experience, background play, and downloads across the millions of videos on YouTube.

Google's music strategy has been fractured and confusing and falling behind for years, with Google Play Music being treated like an orange-haired stepchild, YouTube Music being ignored by some users and unheard of by the rest, and YouTube being a place where people of all kinds come to listen to music - both legitimately uploaded and not-so-much.

YouTube Music, which soft launches on Tuesday, will cost that exact same amount, putting it on the same level as Spotify and Apple Music. If you are a YouTube Red member, your service will automatically receive access at your current price. It will expand more broadly in the coming weeks. The service is slated to later be launched in Austria, Canada, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Norway, Russia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and the United Kingdom.

"Thousands of playlists built to help you discover new music".
