"Macedonia [sic] has no alternative to North Atlantic Treaty Organisation and the EU", he said on Wednesday at an event organized by the European Commission and the Konrad Adenauer Foundation in Sofia, where the EU-Western Balkans summit is held. The PM expressed hopes that the naming dispute will be solved before the next meeting of the European leaders in Brussels in June this year.

Athens has blocked Macedonia's attempts to join North Atlantic Treaty Organisation and the European Union over the 27-year row over the name of the former Yugoslav republic, which according to Greece, allegedly implies territorial clams over the Greek northernmost province of the same name. Athens has reportedly prepared a package of its own concessions that will also aim to maintain the distinct identity of FYROM's residents. A potential solution was identified during the meeting and will be discussed within the countries.
