It was called a "fairy-tale wedding", and the ceremony looked the part: Diana arrived at St. Paul's Cathedral in a horse-drawn carriage called the Glass Coach and walked down the aisle, amid thirty-five hundred guests, wearing an heirloom tiara and a giant confection of a dress, complete with voluminous taffeta sleeves, layers of laces and sequins and pearls, and a twenty-five-foot train, the longest one in Windsor history.

Actor Idris Elba and his fiancee Sabrina Dhowre arrive at St. George's Chapel. Diana's sister Lady Jane Fellowes gave a reading during the service.

Best man Prince William stood by his brother's side as he patiently waited for the arrival of the bride. The couple will now be known as The Duke and Duchess of Sussex.

Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip then arrived, along with Prince Charles and Camilla, duchess of Cornwall. Prince William had proposed to Kate with the engagement ring that had been his mother's, a twelve-carat oval sapphire surrounded by fourteen diamonds.

Markle rode with her mother Doria Ragland in a vintage Rolls Royce from the Cliveden House Hotel, about 10 miles from Windsor Castle.

Meghan Markle's gown was designed by Britain's Clare Waight Keller of French fashion house Givenchy. Prince Charles wore his military dress uniform.

American bishop, the Most Rev. Michael Curry, leader of the Episcopal Church, gave the address at the wedding.
