Attorneys for Trump lawyer Cohen to end representation

Both ABC and The Wall Street Journal reported Weednesday that the firm will cease representing Cohen after a review of the documents seized has been completed.

The bombshell we were all expecting finally dropped today, as ABC just reported that "a source representing this matter has disclosed to ABC News that the law firm handling the case for [Michael] Cohen is not expected to represent him going forward", and that Cohen is now "likely to cooperate with federal prosecutors in NY, sources said".

Jones reported last week that of the first 300,000 items reviewed, she had determined that just 162 of them were covered by attorney-client privilege.

According to Vanity Fair's Gabriel Sherman, a Cohen ally claims that the lawyer is signaling to Trump that he needs his aid. Mr. Cohen wants to hire a lawyer with close ties to the Manhattan U.S. attorney's office, the people said.

It wasn't immediately clear what prompted the change or who would take over.

When agents searched Cohen's home, office and safety deposit box and seized his phones this spring, they sought a wide variety of information, including his involvement in arranging a secret $130,000 payment to the porn actress Stormy Daniels, who said she had a sexual tryst with Trump years ago.

McDermott Will & Emery, a NY and Washington firm, has been representing Mr. Cohen. Cohen has not been criminally charged.

A source told the network that the law firm that has been representing Cohen is not expected to work with him going forward.

Trump's personal lawyer also handled many of his business dealings over the decades.

Trump has repeatedly said there was no collusion, and Russian Federation has denied interference.
