Eid Al Fitr 2018 holiday for Dubai schools announced

The dawn is about to rise on Eid Al-fitr but when does it begin exactly?

He congratulated the Muslim faithful on a successful completion of the Ramadan fast and enjoined all Nigerians to use the occasion of the celebration to pray for the peace, unity, prosperity and stability of the nation.

Saudi Arabia's King Salman also issued a directive last Tuesday to extend this year's Eid Al Fitr holiday. It is believed that Prophet Muhammad got the first revelation of the Holy Quran during this month.

This will be determined by a moon sighting committee, which is set to meet after Maghrib prayers on the evening of Thursday, June 14 to decide whether Ramadan will end the next day, according to a decree from justice minister Sultan Bin Saeed Al Badi Al-Dhaher.

The statement asked all and sundry to observe the day as such throughout the country.

Muslims are now nearly at the end of their month-long fasting period known as Ramadan, which began on 16 May.

Following the sighting of the moon, people seen greeting each other and began celebrating Eid. Eid ul-Fitr implies breaking of the fasting time frame, which goes on for a month. It's Meethi Eid and its celebrations are characterised by getting together of family and friends, exchange of gifts and communal feasting on meat delicacies as well as deleectable desserts, which make an important part of the festival.
