All those who are familiar with the tale of Dumbo can rejoice over the fact that Disney is making a live-action adaptation of the story. The screenplay of Dumbo is written by Ehren Kruger. As fellow Burton aficionados will note, this doesn't mark the first time we've seen Keaton and DeVito in a Burton production, as the two previously gave still unmatched performances as Batman and Penguin in Batman Returns. Director Tim Burton is known for films like Ed Wood, Edward Scissorhands, Pee Wee's Big Adventure, Frankenweenie and Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street among others. "This one begins with that and goes even further". "Literally, a chill went up the back of my neck", he told Entertainment Weekly Wednesday. "Circus owner Max Medici (Danny DeVito) hires him to take care of Dumbo, a newborn elephant whose oversized ears make him the laughing stock of the struggling circus troupe".

With the likes of The Jungle Book and Beauty and the Beast continuing to prove box office gold, Disney is continuing to remake its classics in live-action (or, photoreal-animated) form - and its latest offers an intriguing pairing of material and director.

Dumbo's unique abilities attract Michael Keaton's skeezy entrepreneur V.A. Vandevere, who wants to take the elephant to his "Dreamland" - where he meets Eva Green's aerialist and likely discovers, if this film's droopy shadows and song style are to be believed, that Dreamland is more like Nightmareland.

Dumbo is scheduled to release in March 2019.
