When the music started, the 13-year-old transformed into a mini Janis Joplin.

Before she sang, Hadwin's father explained that his daughter was so shy and reclusive she had a hard time talking with people or making friends, and communicated best through her singing.

When British teen Courtney Hadwin stepped onto the stage to audition on America's Got Talent, no one could have expected what happened next.

What can you say about Courtney Hadwin's performance?

When the song ended she got a standing ovation, much to her dad's delight, who was watching with host Tyra Banks from backstage.

From the first moment Hadwin began to sing, judge Simon Cowell was absolutely floored, and he had nothing but praise for the unbelievable songstress after her performance. "You're from a whole different era", said Howie Mandel. Then you sing and you're like a lion.

"Bloody hell, Courtney. You're like this shy little thing when you first came out".

"Genuinely incredible", said Simon. "Oh my gosh! You are not from this era". I am not Clive Davis, I am Howie Mandel and I can't sign you to a record deal. "I'm Howie Mandel. The only thing I can do for you, young lady, is give you..."

Before long the golden buzzer was hit and the rest is history.

She left with a "Golden Buzzer" pass to the live shows.

This week her audition from America's Got Talent went on TV and the result was pretty fantastic! She later tweeted saying it was "more than I ever could have dreamed of".

The teenager is no stranger to the stage, having shown up in The Voice Kids in 2017 - where her feisty take on Tina Turner's Nutbush City Limits prompted Danny Jones to spin his chair for her.
