The AMR badge signifies Aston Martin Racing which is where the inspiration for this special model derives from! It will be limited to 210 units. As a result, power is quoted at 595bhp - 53bhp up on the normal Rapide S - produced at a tingly 7000rpm. The Rapide AMR sits 10 mm lower than the Rapide S with a redesigned set of three stage adaptive dampers. To lend credence to the talk of motorsport influence and create what should be the most dynamic Rapide yet, the AMR receives new and more aero-efficient bodywork (splitter, sills, rear diffuser), carbon ceramic brakes (400mm front discs, 360mm rear) and Michelin Pilot Super Sport tyres. The design is the same as was seen in the concept, with a complex pattern of delicate spokes.

Talking about the model, Aston boss Andy Palmer said the model's "enhanced performance, sharper dynamics and more powerful design language... has taken Rapide to new and exciting extremes".

So, the splitter, sills, rear diffuser, and boot lid lip spoiler are in carbon fiber to keep weight down, and help reduce lift at speed.

Limited to just 210 cars, the British automaker describes the Rapide AMR as "a sports auto capable of comfortably transporting a team of race drivers to a circuit on the other side of a continent and then tackling the track when they get there".

Its design has changed little from the concept auto shown at the Geneva Motor Show 2017, with the large and aggressive front grille, reminiscent of the extreme track-only Vantage AMR Pro and the daytime running lights look to be inspired by recent Zagato models.

Aston Martin's local division has confirmed the Rapide AMR will be available in Australia, priced from $459,950 plus ORCs. A full-length carbon-fibre centre console and Alcantara-trimmed seats reinforce the car's sporty persona - both firsts for a Rapide. To further aid thermal management of the brakes, the Rapide AMR utilises an evolution of the cooling system on the Vanquish S, with modified brake ducts and dust shields.

There's three different colour schemes to choose from. The Silhouette gets a full-length contrasting stripe in China Grey or Clubsport White instead. There's also the Signature scheme in a mix of Stirling Green paint and AMR Lime accents.

Inside, the Aston Martin AMR will receive a theme that mirrors the exterior with either AMR Lime or Galena Silver welting and stitching. Every example features AMR logos stitched into the front perches, a limited-edition AMR inspection plaque and AMR branding on the carbon sill plates. Pay a bit more and you can even get a One-77 style steering wheel.

Pricing for the Rapide AMR starts at £194,950 ($344,219) in the United Kingdom and US$240,000 ($316,860) in North America. The auto will be available worldwide with the exception of China and Russian Federation, and customer deliveries are scheduled to start in the fourth quarter of 2018.
