Let's hope Tyson Fury will be given a significant step-up in competition for his next outing.

.

Tyson Fury's return to the boxing ring was marred by freakish crowd trouble, which saw fight fans turn on each other and brawl in the middle of the Manchester Arena.

Whether he'd win or lose, one would imagine that Tony Bellew would nearly certainly put up a better fight against Tyson Fury than Sefer Seferi.

"I opted for a bigger opponent but we couldn't really get anybody, there was nobody available".

"I felt fantastic, it was like having my debut again", Fury said in the ring.

The 29-year-old's last fight saw him defeat Wladimir Klitschko to become the undisputed heavyweight champion of the world, but excruciatingly public struggles with addiction and mental health issues prevented any defences of the most prestigious of crowns.

"I'm out in Belfast in August so I can't wait for that", he said.

"I've had a long time out the ring and I needed some rounds, so I was taking my time". I will be better next time.

With a height advantage of 10 inches and weighing almost five stone heavier than the Albanian, Fury's camp are hopeful that they will find a taller and heavier opponent for his Belfast bout.

Fury clowned his way to a win over Albanian cruiserweight Sefer Seferi at the start of his road back towards championship contention.

It was not always pretty from Fury, but it allowed the 6ft 9in Englishman to shed some of the ring rust before moving on to harder tests.

"Bomber" took to Twitter after Fury's comeback fight to promise that he would be able to knock out the undefeated heavyweight.

Germany's Manuel Charr, who holds the secondary WBA title, is one potential opponent for Fury in the next six months.

But just boxing again seemed unlikely at times for Fury during a troublesome period away from boxing.

Fury believes he will soon be ready to take on the likes of heavyweight champions Anthony Joshua and Deontay Wilder.

Fury was eventually given a backdated two-year ban and in his exile he piled on the pounds.
