Beyond that though, little is known about the new film, as it is in early stages of development with no directors, actors or writers signed on yet. Wan will not direct.

Released in 1990, Arachnophobia starred Jeff Daniels and John Goodman and marked Frank Marshall's feature directorial debut.

Harking back to the b-movies of the 50s and 60s, it found Jeff Daniels' small town GP discovering the disgusting secret behind a series of local deaths, all of which turn out to be from a deadly species of spider brought back to the USA from the Amazon.

James Wan will also be acting as producer for the film adaptation of Stephen King's The Tommyknockers, according to the Hollywood Reporter. That said, what we do know so far- the producing team- is exciting.

The original told of a South American spider that crosses into the U.S. in a coffin. The idea of these two collaborating together for a horror-comedy film is exciting.

But what do you all think? Are you excited for the remake? James Wan, now finalizing upcoming family tentpole "Aquaman", heads up the producer's committee on the film. Whatever your thoughts are, be sure to share them with us in the comments section down below! However much like the other horror franchises he's helped to create, like Saw, Insidious and The Conjuring, even when he is not directing, you can still see his influence in the movie and the way it builds up its atmosphere.
