Emery, who beat off competition from former Arsenal captain Mikel Arteta to land the job as Gunners boss last month, has been charged with guiding the club back into the Champions league following the decline in the team's fortunes during the final two years of Wenger's 22-year reign.

During the opening six fixtures, City are due to play all three promoted teams, handing Guardiola's men the ideal opportunity to make another strong start to the season.

Manchester City's captian, Belgian defender Vincent Kompany (2nd L) and Manchester City's Argentinian striker Sergio Aguero lift up the Premier League trophy on the pitch after the English Premier League football match between Manchester City and Huddersfield Town at the Etihad Stadium in Manchester, north west England, on May 6, 2018.

Liverpool host Everton in the first Merseyside derby of the season at the start of December, with the reverse fixture at Goddison Park taking place in early March.

The Red Devils are aiming to win the Premier League title for the first time since 2013 next season in what will be Mourinho's second campaign in charge at Old Trafford.

Liverpool's start appears more challenging.

Jürgen Klopp's side will also take on their other great rivals Manchester United at home first, the Anfield edition of that fixture coming on December 15, with a trip to Old Trafford following on February 23.

They will play promoted Fulham at Wembley in their first home game of the season on the weekend of 18-19 August.

It is now all about which of them can navigate their programme best - but none of them will want to be in Arsenal's shoes at the beginning of August.
