The first of these new Surface hardware products is codenamed Libra, and will be a low-priced tablet that will slot in below the Surface Pro. The device is scheduled to arrive around the mid-point of next year and will be "heavily redesigned" according to Mary Jo Foley. Also not confirmed, is the addition of USB-C ports on the upcoming device. It's reported that a minor refresh of the Surface Pro and Surface Laptop will debut later this year with 8generation Intel Core processors and potentially USB-C connectivity, which Microsoft has been reticent to adopt on its Surface hardware. Even Microsoft resisted naming the device the 'Surface Pro 5,' for Surface lead Panos Panay felt it wasn't different enough to deserve the numbered moniker.

Microsoft's Surface Pro lineup has been very well received so far and it appears that the company is looking to kick things up a notch next year with the Surface Pro 6.

ZDNet reports that Microsoft will in all probability keep the Surface Connector for another whole generation and is also working on a new Surface-branded headset that should look similar to the Jabra Evolve.

According to a report published today, the rumored next-generation Surface Pro 6 tablet is codenamed "Carmel", and will be released in the middle of next year.

Last we heard, a report from Bloomberg revealed that the software giant is also working on a $400 Surface tablet.
