Celtic are optimistic that a deal for French striker Odsonne Edouard could be completed imminently, according to the Glasgow Evening Times.

Several other clubs, including Lyon and Rennes are understood to be waiting in the wings if Celtic fail to conclude an agreement before Saturday's deadline for agreement with PSG.

PSG need to sell 60m euros (£52.9m) worth of players by the end of June, to comply with financial fair play (FFP) rules.

Celtic are now set for crunch talks with the French outfit, as they look to negotiate a deal for the forward.

Edouard is therefore close to a permanent deal with Celtic, with Brendan Rodgers repeatedly making no secret of his intentions to sign the Frenchman on a permanent deal.

Celtic already have agreed a price for Edouard in their loan deal and are said to be willing to pay a club record fee to land the 20-year-old.

Edouard netted 11 goals in 29 appearances across all competitions last term, with his form for Rodgers' side catching the eye.
