Cobi Jones, who played in the 1994, 1998 and 2002 World Cups - watched the bid in a NY office with former teammate Brian McBride, U.S. Soccer CEO Dan Flynn and U.S. National Team GM Earnie Stewart. When Qatar won the 2022 bid in controversial fashion in 2010, it seemed like having the World Cup return to the United States would be impossible but the 2026 bid was first rate and combining Canada and Mexico was convincing.

"We'll get the team performing and we'll qualify if we have to", John Herdman told CTV's Your Morning Wednesday, just about an hour after the announcement that the joint bid of Canada, Mexico and the United States had beaten Morocco to host the 48-team tournament.

The big question right now is what kind of impact the 2026 World Cup will have in the United States?

Jacksonville was named among the initial candidates to host games in the 80-game competition, but the city was cut from the candidate list in October 2017.

This will be the first time that Canada will host the tournament.

"FIFA could not provide a basic level of certainty on some major unknowns that put our city and taxpayers at risk".

Federation Internationale de Football Association insists that contracts with host cities contain a provision they be governed under Swiss law and give Federation Internationale de Football Association the ability to modify agreements at any time.

The United States held the World Cup in 1994 while Mexico held it in 1986. The lovely game transcends borders and cultures.

The 2018 FIFA World Cup is now just one day away, and as part of our countdown, we looked at the best No. 1s in the tournament's history, including two legendary Brazilians! "Football today is the only victor". Not to speak of the over 7 billion people in all continents of the globe, who are following this great football event on their TV screens, Saudi Press Agency said Wednesday. Although just four million players are registered in the USA, despite a population of a third of a billion, Cordeiro said he believes that amount can be tripled by bringing the game to our "disenfranchised and underserved". The North African country claimed 33 per cent of the vote.

"We cast our vote for the United bid as we believe the independent technical assessment made its advantages very clear". "We've got 23 fantastic venues across three countries, obviously supported by wonderful infrastructure, and hundreds and thousands of years of common culture - we share each other's languages, each other's food".
