German Chancellor Angela Merkel said she expected "difficult discussions" at the summit while Canada and Mexico already have retaliated against a range of US exports and the European Union has promised to do so as well, raising the specter of a tit-for-tat escalation.

"POTUS is not gonna let a Canadian prime minister push him around, " Kudlow said.

A spokeswoman for Trudeau, Eleanore Catenaro, declined to comment on Navarro's acknowledgement of a mistake.

Hashtag #Eyebrowgate trended and soon, Trudeau's Eyebrows even had their own Twitter account.

Ms. May also rejected President Trump's suggestion that Russian Federation should be brought back into the G7.

President Trump started his day in Singapore on Monday where he blasted the Canadian Prime Minister and slammed North Atlantic Treaty Organisation just after meeting with the USA allies at the G7 in Quebec.

When asked if the statements came from the president, Navarro said that the words were his own, but "they reflected the sentiment that was on Air Force One".

Trudeau said he had reiterated to Trump, who left the G-7 meeting before it ended, that tariffs would harm industries and workers on both sides of the U.S.

At a news conference Tuesday after his summit with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, Trump recounted his recent tough exchanges with Trudeau.

Peter Navarro tells "Fox News Sunday" that's what Trudeau did to Trump at the end of the Group of Seven nations meeting in Canada over the weekend.

And Roland Paris, a former foreign policy adviser to Trudeau, jabbed at Trump on Twitter: "Big tough guy once he's back on his airplane".

As per a CNN report, on the conclusion of the G7 summit, Kudlow said that the United States had planned to sign the joint G7 communique until Trudeau made certain statements countering the economic interests of the United States.

Canadian Foreign Minister Chrystia Freeland said on Sunday in response to questions about Kudlow and Navarro's comments that she is thankful she is "not responsible for explaining the reasoning behind any comments made by the officials of any foreign government". "That's what weak, dishonest Justin Trudeau did". I've worked with him in good faith getting through a good communique on Friday and Saturday.

But by ordering his representatives to back out of the communique, Mr Trump appeared to be asserting his oft-stated aim of upsetting the status quo whether by pulling out of the global climate accord or the worldwide nuclear deal with Iran or threats to scrap the North American Free Trade Agreement. From promoting democracy and to fighting terrorism, "we're on the same page". You want a tariff free.

Soon after Trump left the G7 summit he tweeted that he had instructed the House of Representatives not to endorse the final communique of the G7 summit due to Trudeau's "false statements at his news conference", as the Canadian prime minister dismissed U.S. metal tariffs as "insulting" and announced retaliatory measures.

The leaders of Canada and the United States are locked in an ugly, escalating public dispute over trade barriers, tariffs and how they think they world should resolve its problems. "He'll learn, he can't do that", Trump said.
