Warmbier parents hope Trump-Kim summit has positive results

President Donald Trump on Tuesday said that the US has agreed to stop running military exercises in neighboring South Korea as part of its agreement with North Korea, which in turn pledged to destroy a major missile engine testing site.

Kim and Trump are presented as the central figures in the trailer, with the chance to remake the world and change history. For one thing, North Korea's commitment on "complete denuclearization" is simply a repeat of its previous promise from the inter-Korean summit in April, and it lacks a clear definition.

He added that he can understand why Trump was so eager for even a meaningless joint statement and a photograph heading into the midterm elections, given that he will now sell it as a great victory.

In the lead-up to the summit, the US and South Korea had moved forward with war games. Trump described the drills as "provocative" and "inappropriate".

"It appeared as though there were differences between the North Koreans and the Trump team regarding the pacing and the sequence of the action-for-action steps that each side had been talking about", Kimball said. And he mentioned that the exercises require USA bombers to fly in six-and-a-half hours from Guam, where they are stationed.

He also says Trump was "defeated" by the North Korean leader when he failed to push him to make human rights commitments.

"I also credit Secretary Pompeo for his diplomacy, for going to North Korea twice, by salvaging the summit with Kim Yong Chol, the No. 2 member of the Workers' Party", the former ambassador to the United Nations told UPI.

Nice and handsome and thin and perfect

"The United States and North Korea have been in a state of antagonism for more than half a century", Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said. It did not include an agreement to take steps toward ending the technical state of warfare between the U.S. and North Korea. South Korea, too, will be looking for ways to begin normalizing economic relations with the North and might resist harsher measures should they be necessary.

Japan's Prime Minister Shinzo Abe yesterday welcomed the document signed by both leaders as a "first step" towards denuclearisation.

But Rocky Kim says Trump failed by not pushing him to commit to a timeline for getting rid of nuclear weapons, calling it a "painted peace to show to the world". Abe specifically mentioned the Japanese citizens who were abducted by North Korea.

Xi's pre-summit meetings with Kim helped restore ties that had been frosty since both leaders took power around the same time about six years ago. In their joint statement, the two leaders promised to "build a lasting and stable peace regime" on the Korean Peninsula. The formal document signing followed a series of meetings at a luxury Singapore resort. Ahead of the meeting Trump had predicted the two men might strike a nuclear deal or forge a formal end to the Korean War in the course of a single meeting or over several days.

During the press conference and summit on Tuesday, Trump kept flattering Kim and even called the totalitarian leader "talented" and a "very smart, a very good negotiator".

I thought it was well done, I showed it to you because that's the future, I mean, that could very well be the future.

Reporters first got a look at this absolutely batshit 4-minute video when it was played just before Trump emerged after the Singapore summit to answer questions.
