Sophie Gradon, a former beauty pageant victor and Love Island contestant, has died at the age of 32.

Although the cause of death has not yet been confirmed, a police statement has revealed the death is not suspicious.

She coupled up and found love with Tom Powell on the first day and later became one half of the first same-sex coupling on the show with Katie Salmon.

The Newcastle native, was also crowned Miss Great Britain in 2009.

The reality star has received many tributes on social media from co-stars such as Olivia Buckland and Kady McDermott, as well as her current boyfriend, Aaron Armstrong.

Alex Bowen, another contestant on the 2016 series, said she was "a lovely person with a attractive soul". "A report will now be prepared for the coroner". My thoughts are with your family, friends and loved ones at this horrendous time.

Presenter Caroline Flack wrote: "So very sad".

The Miss Great Britain organisers said they were "shocked beyond belief".

'A young woman who hasn't harmed anyone but a woman who has faced a torrent of judgmental and close minded opinions since leaving Love Island.

She eventually left the show of her own accord in order to pursue a relationship with her on/off beau since the start of the show, Tom.
