And then, right after the woman turns around and looks at the mom holding the camera, she ducks behind a retaining wall.

The girl's cousin has started a hashtag #PermitPatty on Twitter, calling on those who sympathize with the girl to shame and out the woman.

The video, which was posted on Twitter yesterday, has been viewed more than three million times with many people shocked at the woman's behaviour.

A mother recorded a white woman calling the police on her 8-year-old daughter for allegedly selling water without a permit.

"They were screaming about what they were selling", she said.

"You can hide all you want", the mother says.

The young girl can be seen in a second video shared selling bottles of water from a cool box.

A woman who appears to live by the letter of the law has faced the wrath of social media after she was caught dobbing in a young entrepreneur for not having the correct paperwork.

The little girl was selling bottles of water, to raise funds to go to Disneyland, in front her apartment building near the AT&T Park stadium in San Francisco when the woman made a decision to call the police.

Ettel responds, "And illegally selling water without a permit?" The woman on the phone counters "it's not your property". Austin said the woman was saying she'd call the cops if they couldn't produce permit.

In later tweets, the girl's cousin suggested the woman's actions were racially motivated.

One reason this incident has gotten attention is that it is the latest in a series of stories about white people calling police on black people who are just living their lives-such as the Yale student who called police on a fellow graduate student who was napping.

She also told HuffPo that she only "pretended" to call the police on the girl.

After being busted, Ettel said she was "horrible and heart-wrenched".

Only time will tell if she will reach BBQ Becky's status as a buzzkill pariah, but Permit Patty seems to be well on her way.
