Ali Zafar has filed a Rs 1 billion defamation suit at a district court against actor-singer Meesha Shafi, who accused him of sexual harassment two months ago on a micro-blogging site. Followed by that, now Ali Zafar has chose to file a lawsuit claiming PKR 1 billion as defamation charges.

Filed under the Defamation Ordinance 2002 on Saturday, Zafar has said in the notice that Shafi had caused "tremendous injury" to his "reputation, goodwill, livelihood" through "false, slanderous and defamatory" allegations, according to Geo News.

The suit reads: "As the defamatory statements are patently false, it can only be concluded that this malicious campaign has been launched against the plaintiff as part of a motivated conspiracy to tarnish the plaintiff's good image through making false accusations". In that one, he had asked Shafi to issue an apology on the same social media platform.

Ever since singer Meesha Shafi revealed that Ali Zafar harassed her on multiple occasions, many women came forward sharing their horrific experiences with the Channo singer.

Ali denied the allegations in a statement on the same day, "I categorically deny any and all claims of harassment lodged against me by Ms Shafi".

Ali Zafar has made a decision to take legal action against Pakistani musician Meesha Shafi after she alleged that Ali sexually harassed her on many occasions.

"I intend to take this through the courts of law, and to address this professionally and seriously rather than to lodge any accusations here", the singer had said on Twitter.
