Instagram Stories, the short-form video-showcasing sideline on social media platform Instagram, now offers its users a library of licensed music.

To celebrate, the app is adding a feature that's likely to generate a lot of excitement among its Stories-loving users: the ability to add musical soundtracks to your posts.

"We're introducing music in Instagram Stories".

The app already contains music from popular artists including Maroon 5, Bruno Mars and Demi Lovato. That's more than twice the number of people that visit Snapchat every day. If you're into Instagram Stories, you'll now be able to add music to them if you own an iOS device. Once you snap a picture or a video, tap on the newly added music icon on the sticker window. You can search for a specific song or artist, or browse by genre, mood, and what's popular.

The library also allows you to tap on a song to hear a preview. While it'll be rolling out to iOS users now, the new music feature is "coming soon" for Android. "When you've selected your song, you can fast-forward and rewind through the track to choose the exact part that fits your story". Additionally, the option to choose a song before capturing video is now only available on iOS platform, with Android rollout expected soon. It's not clear who Instagram has partnered with on the feature.

Instagram has also used this announcement to brag about the fact that Stories have reached 400 million daily active users.
