All severe thunderstorm warnings have since ended.

"Conditions are favourable for the development of unsafe thunderstorms that may be capable of producing torrential rain", Environment Canada said in a special weather statement issued Thursday.

"These thunderstorms are expected to be slow moving, thus some locations could receive on the order of 25 to 50 mm of rain over a short period of time". The overnight low will drop to 15 C. Strong wind gusts can toss loose objects, damage weak buildings, break branches off trees and overturn large vehicles. "Heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads".

Take cover immediately, if threatening weather approaches.

The overnight low will once again be in the low 20s "providing little or no relief from the heat", according to Environment Canada.

Environment Canada says the thunderstorm has a potential of becoming "dangerous". Environment Canada cautions residents to stay indoors.

Today is the seventh consecutive day in which the temperature has reached 30 C or above in Toronto.

Ahead of the rain, Environment Canada issued a severe thunderstorm watch for the City of Toronto and parts of the GTA. "The risks are greater for young children, pregnant women, older adults, people with chronic illnesses and people working or exercising outdoors".
