It also looks like the drone might have 360-degree obstacle avoidance, which could be a big deal depending on the software.

What Will The DJI Mavic 2 Offer? This previously announced event is said to be where DJI will unveil and launch the Mavic Pro 2 officially.

DroneDJ has published an image a (relatively) large folding drone bearing the name "Mavic 2".

We have just received this photo of what would appear to be the first credible photo of the DJI Mavic Pro 2 in the wild, at this time we can not confirm its authenticity but it looks pretty convincing. Just a few days ago, a leaked photo stirred excitement among drone fans as it is the first credible image of the upcoming release. That would give the machine greater situational awareness than the Mavic Air, which has sensors on the front, underneath, and rear, and therefore help beginners or risk-takers from flying the drone into a building or some other obstacle. The photo appears to show a GoPro Karma-style removable gimbal that would let you swap cameras, with at least two options (notice the smaller black gimbal hiding on the side?) that may include a larger-than-normal sensor.

Oddly this model would not appear to feature the new "quiet props" introduced via the Mavic Pro Platinum but this could be an early concept model. It might be because DJI plans for it to be used as a stabilized camera.

One of the most interesting things about the leaked photos is the Mavic 2 label on the drone.

DJI's not resting on its laurels, however, and was originally scheduled to host a big event on July 18 (US time) - one where the company had invited attendees to "see the bigger picture".

Sounds like we're going to have to update our Mavic Air vs. Mavic Pro vs. DJI Spark guide pretty soon.

The arms of this drone are also rounded rather than featuring sharp and defined edges as per the original model.
