FC Barcelona are set to beat Manchester United to the signing of Sevilla defender Clement Lenglet, according to a report in England.

Jose Mourinho has signed goalkeeper Lee Grant, right-back Diogo Dalot and midfielder Fred so far this summer but he knows United need to further strengthen their squad if they're to compete with Manchester City for the title next season after finishing 19 points adrift of their rivals a year ago.

However, now that Belgium have been knocked out of the World Cup following their semi-final defeat to France last night, TeamTalk are citing a report from the Express that claims United are ready to renew their interest in Alderweireld.

Mourinho wants a new central defender for the upcoming season, and Alderweireld has been identified as a main target.

With Zinedine Zidane also leaving the club, the newspaper says there is renewed hope that Bale could become the main man at the Bernabeu.

And it seems he's keen for his brother to be providing ammunition for him from the left wing next year.

Lindelof struggled in his first season at Old Trafford as he came to terms with the Premier League, but Carragher feels Mourinho must be excited about working with a more confident player at Manchester United next season.
