The PGA TOUR has held a tournament in Memphis every year since 1958 with Colonial Country Club playing host until the event moved permanently to TPC Southwind in 1989.

In both June and July of next year, one new tournament will make its debut on the PGA Tour schedule.

It outlined that the player from each tour that places top of the Aon leaderboard at the end of the regular season will each receive US$1 million. Liberty National in Jersey City will host next year's event while TPC Boston in Norton will serve as host in 2020 and 2022. The BMW Championship will be held at Chicago's Medinah No. 3 in 2019 followed by the Tour Championship at East Lake in Atlanta.

After months of teasing, the PGA Tour's return to MI got a name, date and confirmation of location Tuesday.

PGA Tour commissioner Jay Monahan said: "By concluding at the end of August, the FedExCup play-offs no longer have the challenge of sharing the stage with college and professional football".

However, all is not lost for area golf fans, as The Northern Trust, the first leg of the FedEx Cup playoffs, will begin a rotation between Boston and New York City. Then there is considerable change from past years. Puerto Rico is slotted for February 18-24, the same week as the WGC-Mexico Championship.

The PGA Championship switches from August to May 16-19, with the Players Championship moving to March 14-17.

Preparations for the final Dell Technologies Championship are underway and the 100-player field will have its unique Monday finish for one last time on September 3.

After the RBC Heritage and Zurich Classic of New Orleans comes the Wells Fargo Championship. Jack Nicklaus' Memorial Tournament takes its usual spot two weeks before the U.S. Open, with the Canadian Open in between.

All three tournaments will be played over consecutive weeks, starting with the Northern Trust from Aug 8-11 and finishing with the Tour Championship from Aug 22-25.

The tournament is slated for television broadcast on The Golf Channel and CBS.

Houston and Greenbrier are to return to the fall portion of the schedule in 2019.
